👉 Benjakitti Park – From Tobacco Factory to Green Lung

Our speaker for the evening is k. Chatchanin Sung (Tip) – Executive Director & Landscape Studio Director at Arsomsilp Community & Environmental Architect Company.

K. Chatchanin will share her experiences as the leader driving the creation of Benjakitti Park – The highly regarded self-sustaining “eco-park” which opened last August.

Benjakitti park, built on the site of the old tobacco factory in the heart of Bangkok, was designed to address both environmental concerns and the city’s flood water management challenges.

It’s a collaborative effort involving state agencies, the private sector, and the military, and has been lauded for its innovative green space design.

The park’s 5,000 trees give the city a “green lung”, and the parks many canals and waterways function as a “city sponge” that absorbs flood water for redistribution to city trees and reservoirs during the dry season. .
